Conference "Global Money Week 2024"

Youth and institutions engage in discussions during Global Money Week 2024.

The "Global Money Week 2024" conference brought together the entire ecosystem directly or indirectly involved in the financial education of young people to discuss the most effective ways to impart financial knowledge and skills to youth.

After a presentation from Visa and Aflatoun about the programs they offer for financial education, a panel discussion with young people, part of various financial education programs, was held. They shared their requirements and desires for financial education.

After recording the demands and inputs of the youth, the first panel was held with the main institutions involved in the field of economy and finance: the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Albania, and the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance. We thank Mr. Mete, Mr. Sejko, Mr. Shalsi, and Ms. Bilali for sharing their experiences and thoughts on financial education and interaction with young people.

The second panel, focusing on the best solutions for financial education, featured Mr. Endrit Yzeiraj, Deputy Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation; Mr. Altin Tanku, Director of Research Department, Bank of Albania; Ms. Adriana Ristani, Director of Financial Education and Projects at the Financial Supervisory Authority (AMF); Mr. Genc Mamani, Executive Director at the Deposit Insurance Agency; Mr. Spiro Brumbulli, Secretary General of the Albanian Association of Banks; and Mr. Astrit Dauti, Responsible for Curriculum Development Sector at ASCAP. During this panel, the youth were informed about how to approach money positively, savings with a focus on investments, and effective ways for secure financial planning for the future.

Part of the financial education for young people was also conducted by actors from businesses and civil society, who shared their experiences and effective ways in money management with the youth, including programs currently implemented in universities and schools such as Junior Achievement supported by AADF. Furthermore, they shared knowledge about microloans and soft loans as opportunities that can assist young people in certain moments of life.

There was also a conference focusing on the best methods for integrating financial education at the national level, where Aflatoun discussed good practices both domestically and internationally, with a focus on financial education for different age groups.

While discussing specific curricula implemented in various countries thanks to Aflatoun, the possibility of implementing these curricula in Albania was also explored.

Financial education for young people is one of our priorities. Therefore, our engagement in this field reflects our commitment to helping develop a strong and sustainable financial culture for future generations.

This conference was organized by the State Minister for Youth and Children with the support of Visa and Aflatoun.
