Youth at the Core of Digital Democracy: EYDR Final Conference in Tirana

Digital democracy becomes real only when young people are engaged, connected, and empowered. The project EYDR – Youth Participation in Digital Democracy: From Digital Skills to Digital Rights of Youth with Fewer Opportunities, funded by the European Union through Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the Field of Youth, demonstrated that young people can move beyond being passive users, transforming into advocates for digital rights, active contributors to policymaking, and leaders in creating a safer and more inclusive online space.

During the Final Conference held in Tirana, young people presented policy briefs on key issues such as the use of artificial intelligence in fact-checking, disinformation, technology-facilitated gender-based violence, and digital participation. This process opened a constructive dialogue with institutions, media, and civil society.

The reflections were clear: youth engagement is not optional, but essential for the future of democracy in the digital age.

The EYDR project was implemented under the leadership of SCiDEV, in partnership with international and national organizations, including the National Youth Agency of Albania, which played a key role in supporting youth engagement in this initiative.
